UN PO' DI STORIA

L'antica origine della città viene fatta risalire ai primi insediamenti abitativi piceni avvenuti nella zona meno elevata del colle, a partire dal IX secolo a.C.; i romani dal III secolo a.C. iniziano ad occupare la regione. Osimo comincia ad acquisire notevole prestigio politico, civile e militare come baluardo del porto naturale di Ancona, realizzando importanti costruzioni pubbliche, quali le mura di fortificazione urbana, il foro, le terme, il teatro, le fonti. In età medioevale la città subisce una ulteriore crescita come dimostra la lunga cinta di mura medievali eretta, tra il XII e il XIV secolo, ad ampliamento delle antiche fortificazione romane. E' comunque nel periodo rinascimentale e barocco che Osimo raggiunge il suo massimo splendore.
Attualmente Osimo ha 30000 abitanti ed è un fiorente centro commerciale ed industriale (ABDALLAH -PASQUALE)

HISTORY

The ancient origin of the town dates back to the first settlements of the Piceni people in the less elevated part of the hill beginning from IX century; the Romans from the III century start to occupy our region. Osimo starts to acquire a great civil, political and military prestige as rampart of the harbour of Ancona, building important works such as the walls, the forum, the baths, the springs. In the medieval period the town has a greater increase as proved by the long town walls erected between the XII and the XIV century to enlarge the old Roman fortifications. Anyway it's in the reinassance and baroque period that Osimo reaches its greatest beauty. Nowadays Osimo has about 30,000 inhabitants and it's a rich commercial and industrial town.
